Constipation Home Remedy

A constipation home remedy is something that nearly everyone has searched for at some point in time during their lives. There are many of them around and have been for centuries. Before medicine was invented, people had to do something to ease the discomfort of being constipated. So they tried different things to see what would work.

If they were really observant they would change their diets to start including more fruits and vegetables along with more whole grains. Adding water always helps as drinking enough water each day will keep your body hydrated and move along the digestive process. This can be a constipation home remedy because not enough water will cause your waste material to become hard and painful to pass, if you feel the urge to pass any at all.

Certain herbs may have been experimented with a long time ago and found to work on constipation. Since many of these were quite bitter tasting they had to be mixed in something to take away that strong taste. These became rather popular to use as time went on and eventually were taken in by pharmaceutical companies and packaged as either syrups or pills.

For other people, they still make their own concoctions for a constipation home remedy. These include everything from mixing two tablespoons of blackstrap molasses and one tablespoon of honey in warm water to two tablespoons of Karo syrup in a glass of milk. Drink either of these before going to bed and in the morning you should be right as rain.

Another home remedy for constipation is to drink a cold glass of water followed by a hot beverage. This one can be anything from coffee to soup just as long as you have the glass of cold water first. This constipation home remedy tends to work rather quickly, usually within an hour or so. Once you do this, you will not want to leave your home until it has gone into action.

So many of these old home remedies have been so successful that people who practice using them seem to have never used anything else. They have probably never even considered getting something over the counter to help when they experience symptoms of constipation. Instead, they simply go to their kitchen cabinets and get out their measuring utensils and a glass. Within twenty four hours they are feeling just fine again with no signs of constipation in sight.
